“Scissors & Glue Studio was born from one simple idea: the mat inside your frame is the secret weapon most people completely ignore. We take boring white mat boards and make them gorgeous — layering patterns, vintage papers, and colorful elements until the whole piece just pops. Come to one of our workshops and make your own, or grab one of our custom mats to make your framed family photographs and heirlooms shine.”

Lovely to meet you
Hello! I’m Alexis. Welcome to Scissors & Glue Studio.
I’ve spent my career surrounded by beautiful things. Styling them, arranging them, photographing them, collecting them and some people would say hoarding them (vintage books, textiles and paper ephemera are my weakness.)
Before founding Scissors & Glue Studio, I ran my own interior design firm and worked as an editor for Martha Stewart Living, Real Simple, and House Beautiful. I’ve styled countless photo shoots and sets for companies including Pottery Barn Kids, Anthropologie, One Kings Lane, and Benjamin Moore. I’ve also had the privilege of working for incredible companies like Etsy and Material Bank.
In short, I’ve made a living out of noticing details, embracing color, and turning everyday objects into something special.
After many years working for brands and designing spaces, I want to shift my focus and help people realize that everyone is creative, and that making things with paper (without pressure or perfection) can ground us and bring us back to a simpler, more playful state of being.
At home you’ll find me hanging out with my brilliant husband, amazing daughter, and two rambunctious dogs. Our home is full of books, vintage collections, and pops of bright colors wherever I can sneak them in.
