Meet the Collected Joy Binder
The heart of our Signature Starter Workshop
If you’ve ever wanted to start creating but felt unsure where to put things, how to organize supplies, or are worried about “messing up” a page, then the Collected Joy Binder was made for you.
Why a Binder?
We intentionally chose a plain, letter-size 8.5 × 11 three-ring binder — the same size as a standard school binder — because creativity should feel familiar, not intimidating.
Bound art books can feel final.
A binder feels flexible.
You don’t ruin a binder page.
You just move it.
Pages can be rearranged. Removed. Reworked. Revisited months later with new eyes. Your creative life stays alive instead of archived.
The outside is completely yours to personalize. Paint it. Collage it. Cover it in fabric. Add handwriting. Change it whenever you want. The cover becomes a living introduction to what’s inside — and like you, it evolves.
Inside: Protection Without Permanence
Inside the binder are clear protective full page sleeves for your artwork. They catch anything that might fall off and protect your work. You can also use them to store images or items that you may want to use in future projects.
Experiment without fear because nothing is locked down. If you don’t want a page in the binder then just take it out. If you want to add a page in the middle of the binder then just pop it in. Easy peasy.
The Pocket Pages
In the back of every Collected Joy Binder are smaller pocket pages that are divided sleeves designed to hold smaller bits and pieces.
They hold many things including
photographs
tickets
receipts
found paper
tiny artwork
fabric swatches
notes
things you don’t know what to do with yet
Why It Works So Well
The Collected Joy Binder removes three of the biggest barriers to creativity:
Fear of wasting materials – nothing is permanent
Fear of ruining a page – pages move, pages can be taken out and added, it’s flexible!
Not knowing where to start – the pockets give you space for storing items you may want to use on future pages.
It becomes part sketchbook, part archive, part memory keeper.
Some people collage weekly.
Some monthly.
Some just collect for a while.
All of it counts.
Get Your Collected Joy Binder
You receive your own binder in the Signature Starter Workshop so you can begin immediately, but it’s not just for class. Many participants use it at home, take it on trips or add it to their daily art practice.
We will also start offering them on our store in a few weeks and bring extras to every workshop because people quickly want a second — for travel, for family history, for seasonal collecting, or simply because the first one is full.
